OMG I DID IT!!!

OK so that's it already...i passed my licensing exam! i actually have time to relax now! so that is what i am doing that's why i haven't been on here lately. but here's a pic for the day...

Three days off! Yes!

OK one of my few three day weekends and I am delighted. Lots of time to hang in our new house and take long walks in our beautiful neighborhood! We love Kaneohe! And a doxie delight with all the foliage and...mice! Have a happy fourth...here my doxie pic for the day courtesy of Long and Short....

Well Ruby got her stitches out and it looks as though she will have a seamless recovery. I was worried she would have a big scar on her head but it looks pretty good! I would take a pic but I am too tired. But here is the doxie art of the day...

Tomorrow is the day!

well tomorrow ruby gets her stitches and staples out of her head. she has been a good lil girl with them in though. i am glad to be getting them out though. she seems to be getting more aggressive in her hunting these days. my little mute girl is even starting to bark along with nickel when they hunt. it is a cute little high pitched bark. she is such a petite little thing! sounds funny with nickel's big bark and her high pitched squeal. what a pair!

Stress

omg...some people can be real downers sometimes can't they? i have had a person in my life who was involved in the derby (no names mentioned) that has been incredibly toxic. but that person has been excommunicated from the world of hawaii doxie derby so we will move forward.

hey! my son was on TV again last night! have to brag; it's a mom's duty and privilege. he was the guest star on lie to me...have to guess who it was! just a hint...he was a soldier.

Well sorry I haven't been here but I have been busy with company, my hanai daughter visiting from Corpus Christi, Texas. She was soooo happy to see Nickel! She loved Nickel so much when he was a puppy she went and rescued Honey Bee, her Chiweenie. We had so much fun and Nickel and Ruby were the life of the party. Oh, and Ruby got her wart removed. We were worried it might be something scary so we sent it out for examination. It came back a wart. My lil Hogwart....

Wieners on Pet Hui!

Well last night started a week of Hawaii Wiener Derby on Pet Hui! The race was the main attraction! Will post the video when I get my hands on it. For now, enjoy this home video of the race....

Back to work!

Well vacation and fun are over; time to get back to work. The wieners return to the farm for their daily job of patrolling the perimeters and keeping the mouse population down. They get such good exercise out there! I hope everyone is keeping their doxie in good shape by getting them lots of exercise. It's so crucial to a happy, healthy doxie. A shiny coat, strong back and happy attitude all are results of getting your doxie out everyday for some investigating, like they were bred to do. Forget the lap dog stuff! That's for cats! Hey and here's a great article snippet in the LA times from a rehab vet named Dr. Oxford about how to keep your doxie back in good health:

"As you may know, many dachshunds have a hereditary back condition called Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). This causes the discs to slowly degenerate, which makes them less resilient shock absorbers. Any activities that cause compression through the spine are considered high-risk for disc herniations and neurological problems including paralysis.

Such activities include running down stairs, jumping down from furniture, or jumping up and down on the hind limbs. At CARE, we encourage spinal flexibility and core strength by dozens of exercises. One such exercise is sitting up, a.k.a. "begging." This is a core strengthener that helps protect the back from injury. Also, I recommend fish oils that have concentrated amounts of omega-3s such as DHA and EPA. Not all fish oils are created equal, so make sure yours is independently tested for mercury and other contaminants, and that it meets its label claims."

So practice begging! Doxies know how to do that!

Doxie TV stars!

Well tonite they showed the wiener derby on TV on OC16. Gosh it just reminded how much fun it was. Sometimes when I'm there I'm so busy I cannot enjoy myself like i would want. But it made me happy to see how much fun everyone was having. Nice to do something fun for the community. Gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling. And it's all thanks to my Nickelby boy and Rubenstein girl. I love my doxies; dont you?

A day of healing

I have always believed that after a hectic period it always a good time to retreat, regroup and heal. Today Me and the pups had a good day sleeping, strolling and playing. It was a beautiful Hawaii day; here's some pics of our walk....aloha, summer is here...

Woosh! The exam is over! And I have no idea how I did....But the pups had a good time at the farm today. They haven't been there for a week! Nickel was barking at all the boards on the ground, hoping someone would lift them all up for him to chase a possible unsuspecting mouse. Of course, little miss Ruby follows up behind waiting to grab the wounded victim and hide it for safe keeping. But now we are all home and they are pooped out from the day of hunting. Time for a bath and zzzs.

Burnt out!

OK so nothing big wrong with the wart on my baby's head, but it will need to be surgically removed ($$$) and I am exhausted today. It is so hard some times to keeps things simple when the world wants to be complicated and full of drama, drama, drama. Thanks goodness for two lil pups that keep me centered. Oh but the good news is I got a 90 score on my practice exam. I feel confident and ready! But enough of complacency, my break is over. Back to studying....

To the vet we go!!!

OK so I thought today I was just going to go sit by the pool and study but duty calls. Ruby has what looks like a wart on her head! What the heck! So, off we go to the vet. Doesn't look dangerous but just want to make sure. besides, she wants it off! It's taking away from her beautiful shiny black coat! A big white wart sticking out on her head....mom!!!!

OK we raced again this year! It turned out to be quite a race, but I'm already looking at how I can improve things next year. But for now I have to study for my liscensing exam so I will wait to discuss after I have taken my exam. Wish me luck!
